Chinese authorities have released a statement saying the nation will be supporting technological innovations in a range of emerging fields, including quantum computing, humanoid robots and brain-computer interfaces.
The document was issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, among others.
The governing bodies said the new push will help China establish themselves at the forefront of “the industries of the future.”
According to the guidelines, a batch of incubators and pilot zones for future industries should be built by 2025, while breakthroughs should be achieved in around 100 core technologies in key fields.
The document also called for innovators to develop “signature” products and optimize industrial supporting systems to bolster China’s domestic supply chains in these “future industries.”
These technologies will have a particular focus on improving six key fields including manufacturing, information, materials, energy, space and health.
Beijing has been ramping up its technology efforts in recent years.
Last November, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a report calling on the country’s manufacturing sector to ramp up robotic technology and “realize mass production by 2025.”
